![]() But, I think a vet's claim is more affected by the SMR evidence that you may or maynot have and if the rater does a good job at reviewing your disability claim files properly for a fair rating.or not.either way.good luck and goodspeed.to you and yours. That said, if someone is in combat and it was in their records, the VA is supposed to give soldiers the benefit of the doubt if some of their service medical records are missing and they were in combat? But from what I've seen on this forum, although Combat Arms may get a slight perceived edge (tinnitus for instance) on ratings, I don't see where there's much in the way of bias against Combat Arms soldiers? At least for me, I can't see how someone can make a judgement call on any service members injuries and the circimstances thereof unless they trully understand the life that someone lives while in service as an Army Grunt or Treadhead as we were affectionately called by our peers. For instance, in Iraq and Afghanistan, everyone seemed to be on the frontlines now? That's especially true in light of the use of IEDs and other terrorist techniques and the effects of them as a weapon against everyone in a combat zone. Since WWII and Korea in particular, the nature of warfare changed so much that we were no longer have well defined battle fronts and lines. ![]() Overall, it seemed to me that most folks both inside/outside of the military understood the sacrifices that the Combat Arms did more versus the contributions of the Combat Service and Service Support Soldeirs-which all are critically important for the mission success. I was injured severly as a Tank Commander and had to leave Tanks (one of the worst days of my life) which resulted in a Branch X-Fer. the stories were almost unreal but could see it was the truth because others would chime in and say yes that happened to me.i think it was good for them to vent.i still remember the s always in the eyes.įrankly, I've been both Combat Arms (Armor & Infantry) and Combat Service Support over a 22 years period. this barraks had men who were changing their sex.13 guys who used girl names sounded like girls and had silicon shots for there was very uncomfortable having guys with breasts that were bigger than my gf.I always watched and saw the xpressions on the people who were there it was like a club house attitude just waiting for there time to go bye.i also went on patrol down to a section of the fort nobody went to called spd-special pross detatchement-these guys the army just wanted out.when I used to drive by the guys were on the stairs looking out windows.these were real hard core combat vets the xpressions on there faces I can only describe as the pictures you see of the holocolst the eyes the blank faces they were the same only no bars-fences-guards.i started to talk to some of them there eyes would lite up like something was turned on. we used this term because don't ask don't tell was around so I would assume there were gay mp with us. I am a 100% disabled vet that served from 69-71.i am not a combat vet or even sent out of the us.i was a prison guard at ft dix.there were 650 soldiers there nothing serious awol assult and stuff like that.the only thing that nobody really knows is a special barraks that housed 15 fags. Feet on ground proved, CR(CAR) MU(MUC) and NU(NUC) (under combat conditions). That will be an issue, along with others when a BVA hearing come around. Vietnam related medical problems came back to haunt me.Īs far as the VA is concerned, there is nothing in any of my VA denials or awards that show that the VA even considered combat veteran status. Obtain free clothing and food, then turn around and sell the items.Īt one point, some years ago I was happy to retire early, and unhappy that the reason was that I know of several individuals that are "on the Dole", and do such things as (You can get into did they really earn it, and so forth.) That aside, if a person has "earned" a benefit, they are entitled to it. There is also such a thing as a "Wage Slave", barely eking out a living in an unpleasant marginal paying job. There are people that feel that they are owed a living and so forth.Ī large difference exists between 100% compensation and lesser percentages, due to the numbers in the VA compensation table.
